I love to study human and animal bodies and how their anatomical parts work in harmony. My art is the expression of this love.
I bend and twist wire to create both the inner skeletal core and external muscular form of my subjects. Wire can be rigid and strong, and fluid and lively. I work the wire directly with my hands, as well as with a large variety of forming pliers.
I cultivated my unique techniques from more than 30 years of teaching Tai Chi and a 20 year career as an acupuncturist. Tai Chi has given me “x-ray vision” to see the inner workings of the body, and the patience to work slowly and with attention to detail.
My work as an acupuncturist provides a thorough study of anatomy and physiology, which produces the intricate details.
The paths I have chosen for my interest and my livelihood support each other and enable me to breathe life into every sculpture.
